About My 21st Birthday

Today i received a couple of e-mails wishing me happy birthday… and it was then that i stopped and remembered it’s my birthday tomorrow (US time) or today (Singapore time).

Tomorrow I still need to wake up early to go to work and come back late to eat junk food and still no internet connection in the room. What a way to spend the 21st Birthday.

About Settling Down

I have been here for a couple of days and i am still jet-lagged. Arg.

Yeah still well and kicking. The weather here is crazy; it is hot at one time, cold at the next. I heard the night temperature goes down to around 16 degrees and now its summer still.

Things are generally expensive here with the exception of things like soft drinks, chips and ice cream are cheap. And now you know why they say US is quite an unhealthy place to be at.

About an Update

I have safely arrived early this morning. There’s no internet connection at my temp housing yet, so people waiting to ka jio me online have to wait. I am meanwhile still contactable by my Singapore number, just don’t expect too many replies. (BTW ah.. if you send me sms at my Singapore number, you are paying local charges. Don’t worry. So just sms me lah..)

So tired now with all the jetlags and not enough sleep…been clocking like 3-4 hours of sleep in total only in the past 2-3 days and on the plane. Will blog more about it soon. Will be setting up a new blog, so if you want the new add, just drop me a mail at crapther[at]yahoo.com.

And oh yeah, Happy Birthday Singapore!

About Who Is He?

Read the following article and guess what is VERY wrong about the article i read on ST.

S’pore oncologist gets US award for 2nd time

“A CANCER researcher here has found that doctors working to combat a major cancer-causing gene could be knocking on the wrong doors, and should focus their attention elsewhere.
For his landmark work in the field, he was awarded a Merit Award for the second time from the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Speaking of his work, he said: ‘The ultimate goal has always been to find a treatment for cancer. Findings suggest that there are other things out there that doctors should look at.’

Over the past two years, he studied 80 tissue samples taken from kidney patients in the United States and Japan.

Working with scientists in these two countries, they examined a particular gene known to be involved in blood vessel growth. The mutation of this gene is the cause of about 50 per cent of kidney cancer in patients.

When mutated, the gene no longer coordinates the proper formation of blood vessels. Instead, it causes blood vessels to grow haphazardly, leading to malignant tumour growth or cancer.

Their findings: The existence of this mutated gene lengthens the lives of patients with the cancer, as compared to those without it.”

About the Island Excursion

Yesterday i boarded a bus with the slighest idea the route it will take, just that i think it will bring me to the place i want to go.

After 1 hour bus journey, in a semi sleepy manner i woke up to find myself at Tanjong Pagar near the train station. From there i took the first bus that came to the bus stop, and after a few stops found myself at where i wanted to be. So i am pretty street smart afterall hur.

Speaking of being street smart, i met the least street smart taxi driver on sat night.

About Where’s My Kid?

The other day i received a sms that reads like this: “Good morning, for this morning’s playgroup session your child may bring along his favourite toy to show and tell. thanks.”

Purfect! But where’s my child?

About Being Relative

Let’s see.. which situation is more disturbing?

Situation 1: A small school boy with a heavy school bag not giving up the bus seat to a rather healthy looking elderly.

Situation 2: An elderly carrying 2 bags of fruits and putting them on the seat beside her, not letting a young man have the seat.

About The Music

Yesterday i went down to help out at an event a few of us started 5 years ago. So i carried my bag, K’s stuff (coz his mum just passed it to me), the donation tin, and a whole lot of other items (for sale) and going around asking people for donations. Needless to say, this morning i woke up with my arching arm, back pain and sore throat.
